CLA Undergraduate Internship Grant

The College of Liberal Arts offers $1,200 grants to its undergrads participating in unpaid internships.

Multicultural Center for Academic Excellence (MCAE) opportunities

Family Literacy Program
Tutor and mentor youth and engage families in skill building activities with their children. Contact Jean Strommer at strom005@umn.edu or 612-625-5503.

Multicultural Leadership Mentoring Program
Be mentored by a corporate executive from Best Buy, Allina Hospitals and Clinics, and Accenture and be a mentor for high school students. Contact Michelle Tichy-Reese at tichy003@umn.edu or 612-625-7308.

Multicultural Civic Engagement Program
Work in an ethnic specific service organization or charter school in the Twin Cities. You can become eligible to receive a $300 scholarship for a minimum of 30 hours at one site. Contact Juavah Lee at leexx048@umn.edu, or Cindy Armijo at armij001@umn.edu or 612-624-6386.

Citizen-Scholar Fellowship Program
This program allows first-generation college freshmen interested in public service, citizen development, democracy, and leadership opportunities to choose from one of three partnership programs described above while balancing their academic studies. 2) Opportunities outside the U of M

Student Experience
Student Experience assists college students interested in the helping professional gain valuable hands-on work experience related to their field of study. Typical majors are Psychology, Social Work, Family Social Science, Nursing and Medicine, Kinesiology, Occupational/Physical Therapy, Education and Special Education, but they are open to anyone interested in this type of work! Breakthrough Saint Paul

Teach for America
